We lift the Champions League Cup with UEFA

In recent years we’ve lifted FA Cups and Premier League trophies; this year we’ve gone one step further and were responsible for managing the official handover of the UEFA Champions League Cup from holders Chelsea to host city London.

The key moment was the live broadcast of a premium ceremony co-ordinated by Ear to the Ground in Westminster where UEFA president Michelle Platini handed the Cup to Hugh Robertson, Minister for Sport. Other attendees included Chelsea players, the Head of the FA and presenting partners.

The handover followed a unique trophy tour of the capital with a concept devised by Ear to the Ground called ‘UEFA London Routes’. The trophy was taken from Stanford Bridge to the ceremony using only public transport. This gave fans an unexpected opportunity to get close to the trophy and see it in a completely unexpected environment. Capturing the authentic reaction of commuters as the Cup travelled via tube, cab and the number 38 routemaster bus created a media moment that was be broadcast to the world.

Working alongside lead PR agency, Pitch, both activations generated wall to wall media coverage with live broadcasts everywhere from Sky Sports to Al Jazeera. The reach was huge with everyone from the Metro to the Mail running images of our ‘UEFA London Routes’ concept.
